A Little About Liberia
Picture "Africa" in your mind. Liberia is all and nothing like what you might imagine.
Comparatively, the area occupied by Liberia is slightly larger than the state of Tennessee. Situated in West Africa and bordered on the north by Guinea, on the east by Côte d'Ivoire, on the south and southwest by the Atlantic Ocean, and on the northwest by Sierra Leone, approximately 300,000 people call Liberia home.
Thanks to an invitation from General Superintendent Joe Lieway, in June, 2009 the Revolution sent a team to "go and see" what was happening there. We were able to see firsthand the ravages of a long civil war, the resilience of a people, and the possibilities where we could be a blessing. We made many good connections there and witnessed a remarkable faith. We long to go back see see what else the Lord has in store for us as we partner with Bible Faith Christian Churches in Grand Bassa County, Liberia.
Why Liberia?
God has led us into a unique partnership and opportunity to be a part of bringing the Gospel of Christ to a people whose country has been ravaged and destroyed by civil war over the past 20 years. Join us in helping to make a difference in the lives of many struggling with basic medical and economic needs.
Our goal for the next 5 months is to
raise $15,000 that will help us begin laying the foundation for a longer term partnership with Joe Lieway and those churches in Liberia that he is affiliated with. This money will be used to:
These funds will be used in 2 major ways:
- Grow 3,000 additional rubber trees (trees, fertilizer, labor)
- Fund a vocational school building project
Help us meet our goal by
donating to this cause.
Prayer Requests
- Strength and provision from God for Joe and Marie Lieway, that the Lord would provide for their needs physically, emotionally and spiritually so they both may go to Liberia in May 2010
- Our Revolution team, as we each seek the Lord about the opportunity to go, may He make is will and provision felt in our lives
- For the Liberians who we will meet from Bible Faith Christian Churches and those we encounter in the clinic, that they would see God in us
- Partners to provide the financial resources to be able to complete all the projects we're hoping to start this year (rubber trees and school)
